How Golf Balls are Made

I am sitting here at a driving range and wondering how golf balls are made?

After seeing a cracked golf ball I often wondered how golf balls were made, so I did a little research. I found out that golf balls are made starting with a block of rubber that forms the solid core. The peg-like rubber pieces are then molded into their final round form. Automated equipment puts the core into the halves of the cover. Then over to a press to get molded together, mold in the balls dimple patterns and gets painted and stamped. Lets take a look at the history of the golf ball from the beginning to today.

The First Golf Ball Dated 1486

The first golf ball that was made is dated back in 1486 in Scotland and is called the featherie ball, which is a hand-sewn round leather pouch that was stuffed with chicken or goose feathers and then coated with paint.
